Women's Baseball within the Charters

For the first time in 2016 Baseball Victoria provided an All Girls Charter Tournament which ran alongside the State Little League Championships in April. Four charter teams; Southern Mariners, Eastern Athletics, Northern Diamondbacks and a combined Western Mets and Geelong Baycats making up the Invitational Starz, entered the Championships providing over 60 junior girls with the opportunity to play with and against athletes of a similar age, level and interest.

From the success of the 2016 Girls Charter Tournament, opportunities have grown. Many of the players who competed at the tournament are now participants of the Winter Women's Baseball Academy. The Academy provides both junior and senior women the opportunity to enhance their baseball skills through a designed program by high quality Victorian coaches.

The 2016/17 season will bring further exciting opportunites for the young female players of Victoria as the Charter tournament will grow to a Girls Charter Competition where girls can train and compete weekly/fortnighly as a bonded group.

The Charter programs aim to grow and develop athletes along a player pathway from; beginner to charter games, to charter tournaments, to National titles, to even elite Australian Emeralds players.
